Doll Goth starts out with alluring night blooming jasmine blossoms with the bitter tannic undertone of black tea. fades to a soft woody iris incense. a light and serene scent. pairs well with fishnets and a black dress... or silk pajamas.

incarceration, politics of GIS, y'all should read Laura Kurgan "The geography of incarceration is both a micro and a macro feature of contemporary urbanism. Looking at the block is essential, but it fails to make much sense unless it’s seen within the context of a larger metropolitan infrastructure of criminal justice and social services ... and vice versa.
To show this, Million-Dollar Blocks borrows and inverts the language of crime “hot spot” maps. Introduced by New York City police commissioner William Bratton in 1994 with the enthusiastic endorsement of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, the COMPSTAT (“computerized statistics”) program used GIS software to map the locations and times of crimes across New York City.
Million-Dollar Blocks shifts the frame ever so slightly and makes use of otherwise rarely accessible data, also collected by the criminal justice system, to corroborate Ellis’s early research. Simply by mapping the home addresses of people as they are admitted to prison, which are also the addresses to which they will most likely return upon release, and by correlating that with the amount of time they spend in prison (and hence the cost to the state), “phenomenal facts” indeed emerge.
The maps show the disproportionate concentrations of incarceration in poor
and isolated city blocks across the United States."

academia grading the last assignment for intro earth science (im a TA), and 30 of 147 students didn't even turn it in. the bar is pretty low, its a short answer question sheet with 9 questions. the kids are not okay, i guess. like, its not even that i think they're lazy per se, im concerned dude like yikes whats going on?

this is my first time as a TA. is this typical for big introductory/GE classes? for each assignment there was at least like 15 (10%) who didn't turn it in

politics, reactionary stuff in leftist spaces "Nazis Are Recruiting You Using Left-wing Buzzwords" syoutu.be/AnKgOvIiRIw
this is an important video, and the comments under it just prove the point. in summary: there are reactionary weirdos in online lefty spaces who use Palestine, "the global south", etc as a shield to hide behind and virtue signal with while they push conspiracy stuff and harass women and queer ppl. Some of these weirdos are cynical jaded class reductionist types, and some portion I believe to be like 4chan nazis posing as the former. for example, someone responded to my comment on the video who had the username "skinheadsocialist" so like,, I think its obvious what's going on there. but if you try to call out any of this, they'll just say homina homina western liberal

this video is pretty interesting, looking at a new theory of
from a PhD thesis (including interviewing the author). I appreciated the critical look at Russel Barkley, who is a psychologist who's been focused on ADHD for decades. I've found Russel Barkley's youtube videos to be affirming and actionable, but there's some political baggage that's worth unpacking

Baking @FrazzledBrynn you might try bergamot essential oil or isolated linalyl acetate. Bergamot is the thing that makes black tea into earl grey. And while bergamot EO is made up of like a hundred different compounds, linalyl acetate is the one that is most characteristic of what's unique about it. I got some from here last year when I had a scent chemistry hyperfixation lol shop.perfumersapprentice.com/p-6150-linalyl-acetate.aspx

@keeya that makes sense yeah. I also don't rly like reading on a screen bc eye strain and idk hard to focus on it. I've been paying for naturalreaders TTS subscription for years for this reason. I would prefer not to support a company that brands itself as an AI company, but it rly is the only TTS thing I've found that has decent voices and user interface. I mostly use this for getting thru my readings for school tho. if ima read a book cover to cover in my free time i will def go for a physical copy

its probably pretty simple to base this off a cobbler and a biscuit recipe. make biscuit dough according to biscuit directions, chop and spice fruit according to cobbler directions, then just sorta layer the biscuit dough on top and cook according to cobbler cooking temp and time. I think apple and blueberries would be good together too
