A few months ago I switched to linux mint (thanks again @0x4d6165 !) and switched from a smart phone to a flip phone. Both were great choices I would highly recommend and I can't imagine going back. There are inconveniences but they're far outweighed by the benefits for me. I've been particularly blown away by how much more mental capacity I have since ditching my iphone.
The process of shedding tech that's clearly harming me has also given me a far greater sense of agency, which feels really important as things get harder and we really have to rely on ourselves and each other, not tech companies.
Humans are amazing, capable animals. We can live beautiful meaningful lives without the mediation of corporate tech, and I think we have to take whatever steps towards that we can.
