thinking about how the media creates narratives of "what happening" like the Red Note story about how Americans and chinese are interacting in tis cultural moment, and ya know, that's wholesome and all, but idk people from different countries talking to each other on the internet, yeah, that was always the dream of the internet, wasn't it? why haven't we been doing that?
but why is not "transfems, furries and queers of all kinds join together with anarchists and hackers to form an alternative to the corporate web based on mutual aide and open source" why isn't this one of the big stories of the last few years? where are all the think pieces and youtube videos about this amazing place we call the fediverse? And while that's been the experience of me and my friends on here for years, it's just not talked about by these corporate platforms and so it doesn't exist, it doesn't matter, it's not relevant. We need to create our own narratives.
