re: religion
@trans_caracal that statement is true, the Quran has "fared relatively well" especially compared to say Christianity, the earliest christian text is probably The Gospel of Thomas which is considered heretical by most Christians today :neocat_facepalm: closely followed by Mark both of which probably written at least 40 years after Jesus' death, and probably much longerto clarify I'm not disputing that suras that make up the Quran originate with Mohamed, but we're still talking a few decades between revelation and it's transmission as a purely oral tradition and when it was actually written down, the Prophet died in 632 CE, so we're told, and estimates to it's writing are 10-20 years later, the process of canonization took place between 1st and 3rd caliph according to Sunni tradition, all of which which leaves a lot of room for variations and omissions, e, likewise the earliest text of the Quran we have that dates to before 672 CE has many differences from the modern version, which implies that there were changes over the course of it's transcription, decent wiki article on this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Quran
also note M. had a series of revelations throughout his life so the early cannonizers broke them up when composing the Quran to make a coherent text overall, but that editorial decision alone causes problems, reading them in chronological order, as supposedly recorded by Ibn Abbas, is a very different vibe tanzil.net/docs/Revelation_Order
legit one one of the great historical controversies, also apparently in that text from 672 CE the 72 virgins bit actually refers to grape vineyards in paradise 😄
