Brewer's Marxist Theories of Imperialism: A Critical Survey PDF
: Mao's China and After: A History of the People's Republic by Maurice Meisner, basically the standard english language history of PRC's founding, critically sympathetic. Also, Red Star over China by Edgar Snow, not objective at all but great read.
The Documentary Series China a Century of Revolution is really incredible, it certainly has bias and omissions, but is loaded with interviews with people who lived through the revolution and GDPR and beautiful archival footage and i can't imagine someone watching this and not coming away with a deep love and admiration for the chinese people Part 1 1911-1949 Part 2 1949 - 1976 Part 3 1979-1994
