it's important to get the historical context right and so yes european anti-semitism, specifically german racism, are much more directly behind the holocaust, pogroms in europe have happened in Europe for, what? hundreds? over a thousand to 1500 years? but Hitler was a big fan of westerns and certainly took notes from his dime store novel understanding of american history, if i were to guess i'd say he liked the violent machismo, open celebration of genocide and dehumanization of native americans, and more broadly, much of the mythology about america in europe, as this highly technological, modern society, the cuttting edge of capitalism etc. influenced the classical fascist vision for the future, and think there's a broader societal trend omong the upper crust to study the experience of colonialism and come to very authoritarian, violent racist conclusions in terms of domestic policy, notice how many liberals just went full fascists overnight like 'yeah we should just kill the communists or put them in camps, good idea, we're already doing it in the colonies' The violence of colonial genocide boomeranged and all that
