Oh so apparently Cox has a whole division just for casinos and such? coxhn.com
Bad joke about Epstein files
Why are the Epstein files in dollcode
@lunaisadeer why is Carvan so annoying to play it's way more fun to play blackjack so good you get banned from every casino
So this one is at the MGM Grand in Vegas for an event and it was realizing: these casinos are SO huge they must all need like, neighborhood-level connections to the ISP. Every single casino. Absolutely bonkers
@julia ooo yeah I'd be interested to know too this is a good question
Linkedin is so.......idk how to even describe it
@sneexy @julia I can see the use when it's a one off thing like adding a padding to just one element and you don't need to make a whole class just for that (yes ik there's scoped) but eventually yeah you're just doing css but Worse. I wish the accessible component libraries didn't push you towards it
Lewd
Staying in Vegas for an death valley tour (made more sense to stay here and the tour picks up from here) and omg. The charge-your-card-automatically casino vibrator
@julia nats seems to be the goto
Still can't believe it's been using Linux since 5th grade
It seems...racist adjacent at least
I'm also.....unnerved reading posts from the people who think they're friends with their LLM by how readily the LLM will start using AAVE when it's supposed to be "chill".
On that note, LLMs feel like something that could only exist under capitalism. It's still formulating these thoughts but it seems like the conditions required to create the technologies that back LLMs and the companies around them are dependant on resource extraction and capitalism.
I honestly feel really bad for people who have AI "partners" and "friends". Our society is so broken and we're so alienated that companionship has become commodified. These people, sure, maybe deserve a playful ribbing, but they also need help and friends to ground them. They are being manipulated and exploited by some of the biggest companies on the planet.
The real grey goo is capitalism
just looked up what Pluribus is, now it understands why fedi loves it so much
the far right and LoTR
it's interesting to me how much the right (particularly tech-fash) these days is obsessed with Lord of the Rings. This is complex because there are definitely some reactionary and racist aspects of LoTR. That said, the message of the story is very clearly a condemnation of power in the abstract and war. It was written in the wake of WWII and it shows. Sauron literally represents the embodiment of the corrupting effect of power.
I know the right is painfully media illiterate so this isn't a huge revelation, I just think it's ironic and somewhat interesting. To name an evil surveillance company Palantir is beyond parody. Are they laughing in our faces? Are they just completely and utterly incapable of understanding media?
@frost I don't wanna just say the thing everyone immediately jumps to but it does seem they're relying on LLMs more and more for production code
